The Process: Creating a #TheAccessoriesSeries Work

For those curious about how #TheAccessoriesSeries drawings/paintings/collages are made, and what they look like before I add the color and combine the handmade layers in Photoshop, here's a sample of just 3 of the many layers created on paper and used in "Hillary (#TheAccessoriesSeries)." On most of the pieces in the series, there are up to 20 layers, but on this specific piece there are only 10. I do a lot of the work on light tables (in darkrooms) so each layer can interact with the others. The drawing in these pieces was done with a Pilot G-2 pen and occasionally with a Sharpie. The collage is hand cut and assembled with tape. The paint used is latex interior house paint. All of the texture work is either physically drawn, painted or created with ink and a toothbrush. No digital filters were used during the creation of any of #TheAccessoriesSeries works. While I don't use the filters in Photoshop, I do use the eraser, so there is some information in the physical layers created on paper that didn't make it to the final version.
