I had to do some stuff I didn't plan, and scrap other ideas I had for Kasumi here. The first problem was; this chick just doesn't say anything very poignant, and no one really says anything poignant to her or about her. What I could find was all cliches (Silence is Golden) or short. So I ran with a short quote and tweaked the text area a little to work with it. Hope this works for people.

As well, the depth of blacks I used here and how close together in hue they are may not play nice with some monitors. I had 4 monitors at my disposal to test it on; and since they're all consumer level and uncalibrated, I hope they gave me a decent 'average' of what the average person is going to be seeing when they see this. In short: Kasumi's strength is her silent, sneaky, cloaking goodness. I figured the best way to represent this was to have her outfit nearly blend in to the background and use a very slim range of grayscale. The added bonus was her eye screen and face really pop out from the darkness, which is a nice touch of her personality in the image.

Kasumi's release also marks the first release since prints of these became available through society6.com. I recommend the "Medium" size option if you feel inclined to purchase any.

spectr.es: Mordin Solus (For Sale)

Fourth installment from the spectr.es series. I really had problems getting this guy done. Atop some weird health stuff that distracted me pretty badly for almost a full week, Mordin’s face had me over a barrel. I just could not get his skin tones and patterns in a state that I found agreeable, and I still have reservations/complaints about the final look. These guys have the least smooth skin of any fly eatin’ amphibian I have ever seen.

There was simply no other quote to be had, that sums Mordin up completely, his attitude about himself and the people he worked with. It had to be them.

Mordin also marks the first deviation from simple gradients in the background: the Alliance Logo as it is in ME3 on the Normandy SR-2 Memorial Wall is superimposed on his background. All characters who must die (Mordin, Thane, etc), or you must make a choice that could result in their death (Wrex, Ashley, Kaidan) will have this little flourish.

For best quality, please choose "Medium" Size, as this uses a 13" x 19" printed area; the native size I designed these prints for.

spectr.es: Javik (For Sale)

Third installment from the spectr.es series. Javik proved to be a serious pain in my ass; getting the color selection for his skin right was beastly, and I’m still not 100% happy with some of the contours in there. Also: lining up 4 eyes with unusual pupils so he doesn’t appear to be cross eyed, lazy eyed, derpy, or looking at 4 completely different objects? Yeah, spent about half an hour just tweaking that.

All that said, I really love how his uhm, head plates came out, and I’m pretty pleased with the armor.

I really love Adam Sidwell’s “Geth” lithograph of Legion from the 52 Bad Dudes project. Enough so that I always wanted to pair it up with a similar painting of Tali’Zorah. Well, instead of comissioning Adam or waiting it out for him to squeeze it in to his schedule, I gave it a go of my own.

The quote at the bottom is the lyrics of the Faunts song from the first Mass Effect soundtrack, “M4 Part II”. It seemed fitting for her, as it works in different interpretations.

My only real hang up is the background color. I am limited to the light/dark of the 5 colors I used, and this is the most visually pleasing combination I’ve found so far from them, but I still feel like it’s slightly off.

EDI in her Mass Effect 3 appearance. I have a very strong urge to do her Mass Effect 2 appearance as an aside/bonus piece too. Time will tell. EDI basically did everything possible to make sure I couldn’t keep to my 5 color/2 shade base concept (as seen in Tali’Zorah’s minimalistic, large smooth color segments.) Because of the organic nature of her facial structure’s complex shadowing, the pose exaggerating this, and the triple layer detail (cover, light under carriage, dark under carriage) in her neck and chest.
