This was inspired by several things, including an interesting college induction speech, which involved goldfish being asked "How's the Water", to which they replied "What's water." Interesting thought that fish don't realise they are floating around in something!! Also the classic nine dot puzzle that De Bono uses, and finally, a twist on the expression "Thinking outside the box". This time a bowl, and what if goldfish could think like this?

Read All Over (For Sale)

One of the few jokes I can remember, is a little juvenile and silly, but is clever in the sense it has two endings. So you can fool anyone who tries to guess, by giving the alternative answer. This image tries to draw these two aspects of the jokes into a clever and socially political images. The jokes goes something like; "What is black and white, and read (red) all over?" The two possible answers are, "A Newspaper", and/or " a sunburnt penguin". The image although based on a joke, shows in some truth, an issue that is not funny. The continued neglect of the planet by humans. The headline was set to help highlight this issues, and the effect it has on the environment and fellow earthlings. The design of the cover is a parody of my favourite newspaper, the Guardian. My latest offering. Another A1 resolution sketch, coloured in photoshop. This was originally going to be a fox. I changed the idea after I had another concept that included a fox, so I searched around for another idea to do with crazy. I stumbled across an urban dictionary term that is; "Crazy like a shithouse rat". Everything seemed to fit. I had drawn a character with a straight jacket before and liked the idea to include it in more detail. So, after a little modelling in SketchUp for the toilet, the composition was set. Building an Empire (For Sale)

I remember watching the 1976 version of King Kong, as a kid. With Jessica Lang in it. Then later, the original black and white, with Fay Wray playing the heroine. I was pretty amazed, but obviously not as much as when Peter Jackson came along and added Naomi Watts in the role. Kong was so real, and fuelled my love for these creature. I have always wanted to draw a gorilla in my work, but shied away from it. One day, looking at my bookshelf and Jared Diamond's book "Collapse" the pieces fitted together for an image. The idea of 'Empire' fitting the building from this film and the notion of what an empire is. To build the ironic humour in all my images, I had the ape making the building from lego; a naive childhood toy, and to match his confusion I placed barbie as the antagonist to his achievements. This is the first illustration I completed at the new A1 size, and holds more detail than previous images. It will be the tailing image in my new book "Animal Behaviour II" which will be out at end of March. New Scientist Christmas Cover 2013

Here is the latest Illustration for New Scientist, based on the scientific research done on fleas. The commission was to show a flea circus with a hedgehog ring master, as scientist use hedgehogs to harvest fleas for research. I have attached the illustration and a scan of the final cover.

Creative Pet Project a charity request

Hi all I'm working on a charity project (some of you know about this as you are part of it). Things are going good and reaching the conclusion of the development stage. I have 120 artists on the list and 95 spread of the book completed. What I need to do now is get interest from the public sector. This is called a platform in publishing terms, and it can be done very easily. All you need to do, is to help support the project. This can be as little as a like on the page, or a new thing I am trying is ThunderClap. A site that will help broadcast the project in search of the public awareness it requires. New Scientist a go-go!!!

After my previous debut on the NEw Scientist Christmas cover I was surprised two weeks ago to get another commission from them regarding an article on clever bees. So, can you imagine how surprised I was that a week later they contacted me again (very impressed with the bee illustration) and asked me to do the Christmas cover yet again. Two years in a row, must be doing something right! :-) The Christmas cover will be posted when it's released. However, here is the bee illustration that went down a storm.
