This ebook is a collection of the works shown in previous print versions of the Symmetria books. It also includes new artworks that have not been seen or published previously. The original images used for these artworks are photographs of light blurs, weathered paint, street lighting, industrial signs and equipment. They are everyday parts of the urban environment. When the symmetrical artwork is created by tiling the image, strange and beautiful compositions emerge from the textures and colours. The second series of artworks are created using a variety of paints, paper, and printing methods. The image is then manipulated digitally to produce the final symmetrical artwork. This is a collection of the works shown in previous print versions of the Symmetry Series. It also includes new artworks that have not been seen or published previously. The artworks included in this book use abstracts from photos of architectural constructions. Some of them use the smallest detail, whilst other images use larger details of buildings which are then reduced in scale for the final artwork. The architectural abstracts featured here are from various cities of the world, but they are not necessarily well known or architecturally renowned in their own right. In fact, they are often parts of the city that are unseen or unappreciated; such as car parks and industrial sites. The symmetry theme was inspired by the visual style of various science fiction movies - in particular 2001: A Space Odyssey. Symmetry brings to mind many things - perfection, balance, equality, order, authority, and uniformity. The artworks here use abstracts from photos of architectural constructions. Some of them use the smallest detail which is scaled up to produce dramatic results, whilst other images use larger details of buildings which are then reduced in scale for the final artwork.

Visual artists are often inspired and influenced by accidents and experiments - a piece of corroding material could be the inspiration for a new design or piece of art. The images contained within this book are the results of corrosion, defacing, or error. The resultant images are light blurs, corroding materials, layers and collages that are new forms of ‘accidental art.’ For the layout of this book, the images are arranged on the page at angles, to represent the randomness in the creation of the original images. The artworks in this book use abstracts from my various art and design projects over the past few years, and by digital manipulation they become new pieces of art. Through the use of vector design software or high resolution photography, the smallest detail of a design is magnified in scale. These new artworks use the three shapes of circle, square, and triangle as their frame. These shapes were chosen because of their significance in visual communication. The Circle The circle appears in every culture as an archetypal form representative of the eternal whole. Inclusion, Wholeness, Focus, Unity, Nurturing, Cycles, Initiation, Everything, Perfection, Womb, Revolution, Infinity, Mobility, Completion The Square The square represents the formal, mathematical, scientific order of the universe. Grounding, Stabilizing, Structure, Foundation, Basics, Community, Elemental, Balance, Pragmatic, Direction, Dependability, Integrity Triangle Triangles are a geometrically stable shape but also suggest direction and sense of purpose. Symmetria: an exhibition of my symmetry based digital art

Exhibition of my symmetry based work at Dot Art Gallery, Liverpool, 5th – 30th November. www.dot-art.com The artworks in this exhibition use architectural abstracts, urban textures, and a combination of traditional and digital image manipu lation techniques. Using various photographic, painting and printing methods, unusual shapes are created, which are then manipulated digitally to produce the symmetrical work. The underlying theme is the idea of recycling and regeneration, in particular of the urban environment. The fourteen artworks are printed as either Di Prints (on aluminium sheet), or box frames.
