33.000 Feet is an installation at an old slaughterhouse, set up during the IBUG Festival 2012. It is made of 10 kilometer stretch fabric from a german army garment factory. Additional the walls of the room, which where falling apart, where drenched in 70 liters of mat black color to cause as little reflections as possible. The 90 sqm room with a height of 7 meters has a skylight, with the size of 2 x 10 meters, extending nearly over the complete ceiling. This skylight is the only source of light in this old slaughter room. The installation is referring to that source of light, the most distinctive feature of the room. By blackening and with that taking away the space conditions given through shadow and light, the imitated light column appears surreal and captivates by by being this "entity". It shall symbolize the brief moment between light and shadow, heaven and hell or safety and being totally lost. An old slaughter room which, just before to falling apart push an ungraspable emotion into the room - an emotion which may express the feeling of finiteness. transeuropa2012 is a young European theatre and performance festival. It takes place in Hildesheim, Germany and has a cycle of three years. Since 1994 transeuropa explores and produces bold new formats and encourages discussions about different aesthetics and artistic work approaches. The focus of the festival is to bring forward a new emerging generation of the independent theatre scene in Europe and to inspire exchange among the countries. The topic of the debate is the question of how humans get together. We will create an experimental ground, where communities can be tried out. The final result, a stop motion movie with no digital effects at all, everything is handmade. About 5000 pictures are processed with an average by 15 pictures per second. The music is by Pretty Lights from Denver, Colorado. A senior project by Tomislav Topic, graduate of the HAWK Hildesheim (Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst) Production by Quintessenz Creation.
