This is one of my favorite Asana, it is beneficial during menstruation and pregnancy. It relieves stiffness in ankles, knees and hips, prevents varicose veins, and prepares the body for sitting in meditation.

If you would like to try a variation you can lay on your back, with you bottom touching the wall and your feet raised vertically, leaning against the wall. From there allow your knees to bend sideways and let the bottom of your feet touch. You hopefully are now in an upside down version of standard Baddhakonasana. This is very relaxing for your body and lets you stretch gently.

I just uploaded an improved copy of Xavier and Friends with the teacup. :)

The original painting is available in my shop over7seas in Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/over7seas. The colors will be a little different to this digitally tidied up copy. The little man to your left is partially wrapped around the side of the canvas, so in the Esty store you only see the front of the canvas, which makes it appear like as if his arm is chopped off.. It is indeed folded around the side. No chopping took place.

:)

I sell 50cm x 50cm prints of each of the legs. However I recently collaged them together to show to a customer in one small 6x4 photograph. And thought: well.. This is nice. So I am offering you the quirky legs collage. Voila!
Have a lovely day and snap up some legs before they disappear...

Take a look at my website of Fine Art Work www.birgitdeubner.com
The full size works you see there are amazing! By the way: the work has been published in several places.. SO NO copy cats.. miaow...

Sunny J (my boyfriend) tied me up with layers of cushions and a long length of rope. Until I as swaddled in cushions as I could be.

But before we could get started: we had some difficulty finding the right location to shoot the photographs for this project. Driving around Cleveland, Ohio I really liked the partially-forgotten streets of Cleveland, where life seems a memory of times past, with not as much lived present. The region has seen better days, more prosperity. But that boom time is now gone.

It was my first journey to America and the only city I would see on this trip. There is something forlorn about the wide streets, the locked up buildings. Signs of decay setting in, here and there, and every now and then some life to remind me that this indeed is 'today' not a memory of the past, not a film I pass through.
I think of homeless people, of 'bag ladies', of men pushing their trolleys of posessions through the streets. Forlorn feelings. And all were children once, playing in a sandpit, playing cave under a kitchen table and hiding in a mountain of bedding and cushions.

So hard to imagine the all-promising past and seeing here the what became of that past in this present moment.

The desire to be protected, to feel cushioned from a fate that might scoop you up run and fast as the wind dropping you in some unfamiliar location. Best to be prepared. Best to cushion the fall, best to be safe and not break anything. ..

I landed softly in the life of sunny J. What luck I had. What a miracle in fact.

safe and protected..

we miss sunny J's lovely grandmother. I can't believe she's gone.

an old art project of mine. Whimsical but also a little about what to do when one is fragile or vulnerable?

Central Temple of Hampi (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_005/post_15/663347_10220848_l.jpg"/>the hottest days of my life ..and when you raise your gaze away from the bustle of the ground level you see this divine architecture..

Youngest Dog (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_005/post_15/663344_13589493_l.jpg"/>the littlest puppy asleep under a huge boulder..
In march 2012 we traveled to Hampi, a 60 something square kilometer site strewn with huge boulders. A perfect habitat for avid rock climbers and a safe place for young dogs giving birth to their first batch of puppies.
We found a litter of pups living under a large boulder by the side of the river. Right next to where the small boat would dock, all day, every 20-30 minutes. To transport locals and tourists alike across the rievr.

This little cutie had 3 siblings when we arrived, sadly within a matter of just a few days. 2 pups died and were taken away by some kind locals. They had fallen in the river next to this boulder and, with eyes still closed, never saw the world before they departed already. It was quite heartbreaking but I would bring a packet of biscuits to share with mother dog every time I came by to catch the boat across the river..

I am not sure what happened to the fourth pup. Not sure if it made it or not..
But look at this one, dreaming of it's future. .. A future of living wild in an amazing landscape, living freely.. We saw the happiest dogs in India. running in small packs, with their friends, growling at strange dogs in their territories, running up to our scooter to jump on for a ride - they did that!

one word of caution, this asana is not advised for women as it may interfere with fertility.. Consult several advanced Yoga Teachers if you are keen on practicing it anyway. I have a teacher you will teach it to you, however the teacher I trained with to become a teacher myself advises strongly against women practicing Mayurasana instead he offers Kakasana while the men do Mayurasana.

Ashtanga Yoga Asana Vasisthasana B (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_005/post_15/663298_5649159_l.jpg"/>Yoga Asana Vasisthasana B
