Rod Hunting is a designer and illustrator with some seriously stunning work in his portfolio. His delicate drawings are at once sophisticated and crafty; they’re slick yet ooze evidence of the artist’s hand at work. Peep his portfolio and get lost in lovely illustration.

Also, while you’re at it, check out his installation of vintage camera drawings. It makes the analog nerds around here quite happy.

Rod filled his Scout Book with space-y pencil illustrations. Rod! Oops, I mean: Rad!

Alex Fuller makes beautiful, bright, bold work. In addition to being a partner at The Post Family, Alex is the co-founder of the Illustration Corporation and helped create Ogilvy’s brand design group, 485. Alex, you’re a very busy guy!

We very excited that he took the time to fill this Scout Book so expertly with collage work. We even see some letterpress bits and pieces in there!

“Scott Thomas is constantly trying to invent the next big thing.” From the looks of it, he’s doing quite a job.

Scott Thomas is a designer, an inventor, a thinker and an innovator. He served as Design Director for the Obama campaign. Scott recently curated and edited a book called Designing Obama, a publication that documents the presidential campaign’s use of art, design and a grassroots approach to publicity and propaganda. Rad.

Scott filled this Scout Book with sketches for that next big thing he’s working on. I’m thoroughly impressed with his planning and plotting.

Ina Weise is a young lady with quite a bit of creative experience under her belt. She is currently an intern at The Post Family, but before calling Chicago home, she studied in Austria, Poland, and her native Germany. Her command of geometric shapes is astonishing, and her work spans mediums from textiles to printmaking to apparel to installation. Her installation at the Post Family’s Family Room Gallery will close this week; if you’re in Chicago, stop in to celebrate the closing of her show The Following of One Thing After Another.

Ina explores circles in this pocket notebook, incorporating pen, pencil, cut paper, collage, xerox transfer and woven paper.

Chad Kouri loves paper. I might go so far as to call him The Collage Master. His work incorporates vintage ephemera, letterpress printing and found objects, which makes for a body of work that is at once tangible, nostalgic and visually spectacular. Find a bursting portfolio of Chad’s work online at Long Live Analog, much of which lives happily in the interesting realm of digital-meets-analog. Geek out over projects such as his papercut desktop wallpaper for Kistune Noir, or his iPhone cases wrapped in digitized artwork of hand-cut vintage graph paper. Whoa.

Chad’s Scout Book boasts a fantastic touch-and-feel, cut-and-paste quality. It makes me want to touch my computer screen.

This group of creative gentleman has been working together in Chicago in a compelling model that embraces collaboration and independence: they work on their own projects, but together. Independently, but not alone. And when they do get together to collaborate directly? Beautiful things happen.

We’re super excited to share these fantastic books with you for the next five days. Get ready for an explosion of pencil sketches, cut-and-paste, bright colors, x-acto madness and more.

Composed of portraits of the interiors of refrigerators across America, Menjivar documents and exposes the truths revealed by what we consume with our bodies.

Expertly illustrated by Kate Bingaman-Burt, these limited-edition Scout Books invite the user to document their eating habits for one month. The inside cover urges: “Think! Is it food? Who made it? Where did it come from? How did it taste? How fast did you eat it?”

One of the Scout Book’s 32 interior pages holds an original photograph by Menjivar, a beautiful peek of fresh sage living on in a refrigerator. All proceeds from the sale of these books will benefit Janus Youth Programs, a Portland non-profit with an urban agriculture program that employs, educates, and empowers at-risk youth.

Wallace Cochran writes a creative non-fiction history of the rocket, and Marriage Records‘ publishing imprint MPH has released it in this gorgeous limited-edition book. One half of the band Drakkar Sauna, Cochran’s text lent itself to lyrics for the band’s latest release on Marriage Records.

This book was lovingly assembled from two colors of interior text-weight stock and wrapped in a cover letterpress printed by EMprint Press. Design was done by AF Jamison. As much an exploration of publishing as it is of paper and ink, we’re proud to have worked on this specimen of fine printing.
