Tulip (dark children book)

This is my dog Tulip. I call her that because Mummy said a flower is a nice name for a dog. But I don’t really think she is much of a tulip because she spends her whole day eating, snorting and farting. In fact her most favourite thing to do is to gobble food. She NEVER EVER stops! All day long, when I am awake, when I am home from school, when am doing my homework, watching TV, SHE IS ALWAYS EATING!! If I ate that much I think I would burst and everything I ate would land all over the house. Mummy would not be pleased but am sure Tulip will just eat up the mess. I do sometimes think that Tulip looks like a balloon. Sometimes I wonder when she will explode or float up to the sun or sink into the ocean depths. I know a secret about Tulip though. Mummy says that everyone has their own special talent. Mine is painting happy pictures in school. Tulip’s talent is not that she can eat her way through loaves of bread, stacks of pancakes or a bucket full of apples. It’s that she can eat dreams as well! I know this because I have seen her gobble up my bad dreams! And other people’s too! Don’t laugh its true! Grown ups look at her sleeping soundly on the ground at night and say how wonderful it is to be a dog – to just eat and sleep. But I know she isn’t REALLY asleep. She is in Dream World. But there’s no point telling grown ups stuff like that. They just think you are barmy. Dream world is filled with all kinds of strange, wonderful, cool, weird, spooky people, animals, shapes, forms, colour and Tulip treats it like her buffet cart. She gobbles her way through nightmares, chomping here and biting there, swallowing down the nightmares of the world. She might toss her head as she wrestles with a dream or she might shake a dream between her teeth but she always manages to eat away the nasty. [picture of bad dream with tulip eating the actual page] As the sun rises, Tulip burps as loud as a train – URRRRRPPPPPP she goes! I always giggle because Mummy always frowns. But Mummy doesn’t see that as each nasty dream touches the yellow sun, they disappear. Tulip always watches the sun for a little while and she gives herself a good shake and a snort and steps away into morning time. And guess what? She is hungry for breakfast and ready again to gobble her day away. If you ask me, does she every stop eating. I would say no! NO! NO! NEVER! Food will never conquer Tulip and nor will any nasty dreams. I think all dogs have the same power too. But am not to sure who else to ask. I used to be afraid to sleep and be the only one awake at night. I listened to every creek and chirps as they went around the house. They always seemed louder than my breathing, when I was afraid of dreams. But NOT ANY MORE! And you know why right? Eventually, Tulip will wobble her way in and eat my bad dream. The End ^_^.
