My Next Comic Project

So my next story focuses on my hunter from VOLUME ONE’s Death In The Afternoon. The story takes place in Paris in 1923, amongst the ex-pats of the Latin Quarter. The story is going to be a bit of a departure for me in a number of ways. This story has its badass moments for sure but unlike my previous endeavors, it isn’t about badasses for the sake of being badass like Strongman and D.I.T.A. (Death In The Afternoon) were. If I were to compare it to anything, I’d say its akin to a visualized Hemingway novel. Without giving too much away, I peel a number of layers back on a guy who I designed to be a one dimensional character.

If you've ever been to Shakespeare and Company in Paris, you'll recognize this as the little cubby they have upstairs, where you can use the old typewriter (the "s" doesn't work FYI) to write messages on scrap pieces of paper, that you then pin to the wall. The place is amazing. Its right across from Notre Dame in the Latin Quarter. Its like Olivander's Wand Shop but for books.

Just got back from a 3 week residency working with Paul Pope at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. It was pretty amazing and I learned and grew a lot as an artist. One of the skills I picked up while I was there (at least in terms of enjoyment, not necessarily skill) was inking with a brush. This is a study of a Steve Ditko panel from Amazing Spider-Man #33 that I busted out as a warm up. This is straight brush, no pencils and no corrections made in Photoshop.

Haven't been around these parts much lately. For the past 4 weeks I've been running a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to print my first legitimately self published comic. I'm happy to say that my original goal of $500 was not only met, but exceeded by $1295. Needless to say I'm ecstatic. This is one of a coupe pages of a preview I'm adding into the book. Yes, I'm actually going to tell the story of the giant robot I've been posting pictures of for months now.

So over on Kickstarter, I've managed to successfully raise enough money to print a decently (small) sized run of my comics! Super stoked already, but on top of that, they interviewed me for their blog!
