Another dream. Another picture. I'm not to sure what it means, or why it exists. This came to me in a dream that started a whole artistic movement in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Free Print Show. In my dream the piece was hanging on a gallery wall. I approached it, loved it, then was told by the artist, standing next to me, that it was free. FREE for me to take down and leave with. I find the power line symbolic of the various tubes that keep all organic forms living. Esle. My Nana. My prairie grandma. Her immigrant life is the story of so many Canadians. Successful, but of two minds. A loss of language. A loss of culture. Buildings made of wood, metal and concrete wrapped in tyvek. Cities on pasture land. Human sprawl. New Cultures born. Both creation and destruction. When city meets country, where progress and tradition intersect, that's where this picture will be. * This print was given away at the second free print show in September of 2011. It's more of an image study on my families past mixed with my thoughts and ideas about the present. It has led to create a much larger painting of the same subject.
