It was inspired by the film "Rosemary's Baby." I have posted a number of process photos as well as the finished result and a photo from the opening.

The medium was ink wash, gouache, and graphite.

Jessica A. "Tarnished" explores the allure of imperfection: I've created a world inhabited by the deformed, tainted, injured, and alien, where external imperfections are echos of internal struggle, and beauty is undeniably in the eye of the beholder. Behind every flaw is a story waiting to be discovered."

Here is the story:
This series of four paintings are based on four different songs but together they tell the story of the relationship between a scheming girl and an exotic bird. Sometimes people want something so bad that they are willing to destroy it and lose their minds to get it. Obsession, ya know?

Songs in order:

(Birdie Brain by the Fiery Furnaces, The Wren In The Furze by The Chieftains, Plea From A Cat Named Virtue by The Weakerthans, and Tea And Thorazine by Andrew Bird.)

Jessica A.
