Based on the classic Twitter 'Fail Whale' and vintage beer label design, this nautically themed design was illustrated entirely by hand using scratchboard.

Brute Squad (For Sale)

Printed on AA Tri-Blend shirts in my shop: http://ianleino.com/shop/brute-squad

I like to think that every fully-realized fantasy world has its own artists, and if so they probably also have their own version of street art. Ideas naturally bleed through various realities, so it's fun to think that a graffiti artist in the world of The Princess Bride might create an image using the giant Fezzik as a symbol of power, much in the same way that Shepard Fairey used Andre the Giant.

Striped & Bytes (For Sale)

Find me on FB: http://facebook.com/ianleino

For this design, I wanted the interplay and balance between traditional and digital techniques to give a new look and a fuller understanding of the subject by depicting it through contrasting media.

Shred or Die (For Sale)

Printed on AA Tri-Blend in my shop: http://shop.ianleino.com

I have a theory that the TMNT and Shredder were really just skate park rivals - the Turtles were loose and artistic while Shredder was all about precision and technical perfection. Once a big Hollywood producer got ahold of the story, it quickly morphed into this weird thing with talking rats, vengeance stories and armies of ninjas. Everyone involved got huge checks for the rights to their story, but were forbidden from ever telling the truth, lest it topple the empire of cartoons and action figures that had sprung up. It was supposed to be about the skating, man!

Choose Your Weapon (For Sale)

Some of my favorite weapons from the history of video games. Created entirely by hand with scratchboard, this design squarely inhabits the junction of cryptic LOST mythology with classic beer label design, executed in a vintage, hand-tooled style rarely seen in t-shirt design.

The Bearshevik Revolution (For Sale)

Comrades! Here's the direct link:

It's just $15 with free shipping in the US, and is printed on American Apparel, but will be gone forever at noon tomorrow unless it can pick up enough sales between now and then to lift it a couple of places in the ranking. So if you want one, move quickly or you could miss out!

Every Doctoring Who down in Whoville
Toasts your survival and the revival of goodwill.

Even Oods and Judoons and Daleks confess
Today is a day to say, “Exterminate!” less.

It’s the season of hearts, big and deep as the TARDIS,
To make room for any who, any how, regardless!

For faces and spaces may change with the season,
But peace on Earth is a wish for every dimension.

(WHO-liday poem by the incredibly talented Josiah Bancroft: http://josiahbancroft.blogspot.com/ )

What better way to pay tribute to my two all-time favorite doctors - Doctor Who and Dr. Seuss - than with an illustration combining the two of them in this joyous holiday season?

Available only in my own shop this 6-color design is printed locally on 100% soft jersey cotton American Apparel shirts, for a fit and feel that's fantastic!

And for those looking for something a little different for holiday cards, I have also created "Happy WHO-lidays" greeting cards (which feature the above poem on the inside) and are available in a 4-pack or 12-pack:

One man stepped into that void. A man of vision. A man of courage. A man with a really fast horse.

His name: Medieval Knievel.

(For Sale)

Rummaging in my grandfather's attic last weekend, I found an old trunk (that apparently had belonged to HIS grandfather) marked "Science Expedition - 1861". Inside, along with a wild assortment of outdated (and rather questionable) scientific instruments, was a selection of notes and illustrations, most of which had disintegrated with age. This diagram, showing the strata of the earth, was the only surviving document of their expedition.

A squalid inn outside a rundown castle on a night as black as ravens' wings. After exchanging the bulk of my coinage for what passes for drink in this place, the barkeep offers to sell me a box of protective relics for my journey homeward.

As I released the catch and opened the lid, I smirked at the trinkets, and the simple naivety of these peasants and their superstitious beliefs. I drained my glass and headed for the door.

I placed my hand on the door latch, and turned for one more snide look at these country simpletons. Outside a hound bayed. Then another joined in. Then another. Soon, it seemed as if the entire town were awash in their mournful song, and it quickly rose to a frantic, feverish yelping that tore through me like an icy wind.

I dashed back to the bar, slammed my remaining coins on the table, snatched the box from the barkeeper's grubby hands, and rushed to my awaiting carriage, praying that I would make it out of this dismal town before the shadows closed around me.

Eclipse!
