Fulfilling our human need to belong, should _never_ be about brand names. Period.

Simply because I find conspicuous consumption increasingly embarrassing. And the concept of invidious consumption makes me want to vomit, frankly.
DIY, frugality and unconsumption is HOT in my book : )

© Control v1.2 (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_003/post_13/449744_13323207_l.jpg"/>Artist Statement:
This piece is a comment on a seemingly growing practice... where artists are removing (or at least attempting to remove) their creative work from the internet due to infringements over copyright in an effort to regain control over how and where their work is presented... But also where BIG companies with BIG brands and very deep pockets are slapping down copyright infringement notices with increasing vigor.

truth. {Limited Edition} (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_003/post_13/449725_9497510_l.jpg"/>Artist Statement:
This piece is inspired by Kurt Vonnegut's 'A Man without a Country' which I've been reading recently.

A free-thinking cynical bugger who wrote stuff that makes you think. Here's a snippet:
"Can I tell you the truth? I mean this isn't the TV news is it? Here's what I think the truth is: We are all addicts of fossil fuels in a state of denial. And like so many addicts about to face cold turkey, our leaders are now committing violent crimes to get what little is left of what we're hooked on...Don't spoil the party, but here's the truth: We have squandered our planet's resources, including air and water, as though there were no tomorrow, so now there isn't going to be one." - *Kurt Vonnegut*_

Lies Lies (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_003/post_13/449686_8645445_l.jpg"/>Artist Statement:
Given the weekend masses in shopping malls and our growing national credit card debt, presumably many of us are still buying into the lie that material possessions bring happiness, status, popularity, sex or {insert whatever is desirable}

Generic® (For Sale)

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_003/post_13/449616_15996896_l.jpg"/>Artists Statement: In OZ the supermarkets have rebranded generic labels to appeal more to shoppers. Now the housebrand labels look all fancy schmancy and the prices have gone up to match.

Forgive my utilitarian penchant, but I'd much prefer my no name brand to look a little less fancy and be a little more value for money... Wasn't that the whole point of "this":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Name_%28brand%29#Branding.2C_packaging_and_promotion and not "this":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veblen_good

Artist Statement:
It's a sad irony that by speaking out about things that matter, King made himself a target to be silenced.
history tells us there is great personal risk upsetting the status quo – especially when trying to make the world a better place.
