/ Capitalism, advertisement, politics and entertainment- they all function like pornography.They seduce us to the utmost pleasure; and make us continiously hungry for even more. The ideal case would be if we sat comfortably on the sofa and would not be occupied with anything else than consuming. We want fun, we zap for satisfaction- what is needed before and after is of no interest: no working no cleaning no extra services. Sex, money, speed, power, this language is spoken and understood by everybody. "Think bigger" and everybody joins. The bed and the market drives us always further along towards maximizing, as well on the street as well in other fields, which are actually constructed more complex.In this one-way track attitude there are no asides, no returns, no regrets. Following the doctrine " harder, better, faster, stronger" means being tempted to accept obvious lies: doublethink in a big manner*. The flood of outrageous news and human tragedies on tv accompanies our everyday meals. We are watching, consuming them and getting more and more indifferent. Hereupon we join in the spiral of consumption again in order to finally reach the promised satisfaction in unreachable hights. But the practiced strategies of ignoring and disregarding each other as well as the perfection of shifting realities lead the society to its growth and finally also to its subversion. Gamze Özer collects words, advertisement scratches and images out of one dimensional businesses - and works them into hand and self made collages. Like a charming puzzle or a colorful game perversions are built up on another and are multilayered and touch upon each other. . By the intersection of single messages combinations and associations are made up at points where they are not supposed to be. But doing so they expose their banality and their lack of content with a good sense of humor and a feeling for a free life style.
