It has been known as the keeper of secrets, and having eyesight so good it can see straight through solid objects.

"The Bad Girl of the Bayou" is one of a number of paintings created around the theme of Mexican "Votive" paintings and true western stories. "...on this day, 25 years ago, I was saved after receiving 4 bullet shots in the city of San Luis Potosi..." Such are the 'miracles' depicted in votive paintings that line the walls of many Mexican churches. Often harrowing and nearly always heart-warming, these paintings are commissioned by clients for a local artist to depict an event where their prayers have been answered. I took the idea and layout of the votive as a vehicle to tell the story of a number of real accounts found in the newspapers of 20th century America.

An ongoing series celebrating Gods and Monsters Throughout the ages. The Caipora (Kay-pour-a) is a mischievous forest dweller from the mythology of the Brazilian Guaraní and Tupí people. It is usually depicted as naked, smoking a cigar with a long black mane and sometimes the head of a fox. The Caipora is said to be a protector of the forest, helping people who respect it and delivering punishments to those who do not! Any hunters who do not respect their prey may find that the Caipora has hidden the tracks they are following and they may even find themselves lost in the jungle all together!

An ongoing series celebrating Gods and Monsters Throughout the ages. The Blemmyes were a real life nomadic tribe that lived in Northern Africa in an area south of Egypt. They often fought with the Roman’s and were depicted in fiction by them to be headless, with their faces upon their chests. They were portrayed to be both fierce by the Romans, and peaceful by the Greeks (although the Greeks weren’t threatening their land.)
