Miss Ruth is part of my, "Ladies & Gents" series. Miss Ruth sees people's lives before they do. She can easily envision other people's futures but has a hard time figuring her own. She believes there must be someone out their for her but sees nothing in the cards...yet. Miss Ruth joined "The Ladies and Gents Victorian Dating Service", in order to change her future. She dreams of meeting her special gentleman and hopes her visions will soon match someone ideals of love. The original hand drawn and painted illustration was created by me (Debra Styer) with watercolor and gouache over a graphite drawing.

Meet Reginald Raccoon, a sweet yet all too curious little creature. Reggie lives to get into everything. Even though he may turn your world upside down, he wants you to believe in his innocence at every turn. I mean look at that face, how could you not love him...he needs you to love him. Mr. Reginald would make lovely companion for any room, curious boys and girls alike. This folk tale inspired original illustration was created by me (Debbie Styer) using watercolor and gouache paints on illustration board.

Nicolas, Age 9, Factory Worker Nicolas misses the sun. He work from sun up to sun down everyday and dreams of days off. Days that he can frolic in the countryside and play with all the little animals that would live there. He dreams of getting away from the filth of the city and living on farm where the air is clean and he can breath. Nicolas also dreams of finding a family that will love him and take care of him. (His real family left him at an orphanage when he was a baby.) Will anyone ever take him away from his long working days at the factory? Will he have lots of brothers and sisters and animals to play with? A loving father and mother? Maybe someone will see him and take a chance on this lovely little boy before it's to late and all his dreams are gone... The original illustration was created by me (Debra Styer) with watercolor and gouache.

The Hidden Mother refers to a type of Victorian photo where the mom "stays" in the picture to calm the little child via bad camouflage. I just love these things...they are so creepy. This little ode to the Hidden Mother was created with watercolor and gouache paints over a graphite drawing.

Charlotte is part of my Ladies & Gents Series... Charlotte is speaks in whispers. She is happiest floating around in the background not making a sound. This is where she learns so many things. She secretly wants to live the life of the people she serves. But how could she meet a Gentleman? Charlotte has saved her pennies and is praying for luck and has also joined, "The Ladies & Gents Victorian Dating Service". If she does get lucky enough to meet a Gentleman will she be too scared to speak?
