I've always had a funny fascination with train trestles. I grew up on the plains where the trestles were practically nothing more than a few wooden planks, so to see something so tireless and majestic is just stunning. I gape at its history, its legacy. Standing near no other mark of the times, I feel I can travel back to when such a structure would be regarded not as a decaying relict in the woods, but as an actual achievement, a mark of how far we've come. It might just be imaginary but I like it.
