Based on an uncredited diagram I found online. The washes were applied over a copy of the inks.

A lot of gun lovers like this, and that's ok. I'm a pacifist, and I've used guns a few times. I understand the attraction and the fear both. I also did this in the context of a story, as a analogy for deconstructing violence and ethics and assault. And the sexness and horriblness of machines. And because i like diagrams.

Rocking the Vote again (For Sale)

This seems all too timely. It was actually done a while ago, in 2004, as an illustration for Kitchen Sink Magazine from San Francisco.

An article by Monique Montibon Kundahl, on the topic of activist oriented politics in film.

Had my own way with it, the visual reference was from one of the films mentioned, Nashville. This van appears rolling through a lot of the film. In the magazine it was black and white, and accompanied by a quote from one of the main characters, the candidate Hal Philip Walker.

"Let me point out two things. Number One: All of us are deeply involved with politics whether we know it or not and whether we like it or not. And Number Two: We can do something about it."

Flock (For Sale)

Take flight, an impressionistic flock of birds. An exerpt from the rise and fall of it all. An incompleate comic I hope to get done in Revolver one of these days. I really like this on it's own, blown up like this. With your help I’d like to get the first half of the longest story I've ever tried to tell completed in time for TCAF 2013. I'm very close already, over 115 pages are done, just a mere thirty left to complete the first three chapters. I hope with this campaign I can dedicate the rest of this year to making those thirty pages my primary focus.

Charlie's childhood friend is about to die.
Hitch hiking in BC PJ's luck runs out.
Lionel is in existential free-fall.
Leslie is a therapist and part time drug dealer.
It's just occurring to her she hates her job.
Dan's daughter thinks he needs to grow up.
-
The story of five friends.
Dreams, drugs, & denial
all failing to weather
the arc of life unscathed.
Each coming to terms with lives peter panned,
and in danger of going off the rails.

For the last two weeks i've been holding a funding drive to get the book done on indiegogo, so far it looks really good--at this moment I'm just $450 short of the primary goal! You could be the one to put it over the top.

I'm offering perks from early limited editions of the book to art, to parts, to prints from society6! And there's enough time maybe to even reach the second goal. That would be very cool.

Check out the trailer, with beutiful music by Sadoceanspacebear.

Buti like it. Maybe not such a successful portrait of author Paul Auster, but a good one of Peter Stillman I think? The weird woodcut like feeling to him is working for me. It's rifting on the corresponding panel in the Paul Karasik & David Mazzucchelli adaptation of 'City of Glass'. Wanted to do something to dedicate to all three for that book.

This was a commission for Steven Gettis for his Blog and art collection, Hey Oscar Wilde! It's clobberin' time!!!

This image was done as the back cover to carte blanche Issue 14: Obsessions

The Montreal-based literary magazine of poetry, graphic fiction, creative nonfiction, photography, literary translation, fiction, and interviews. As well as serving as the editor of graphic fiction, I did a bunch of illustrations for CB14, and designed the print ready edition.

Was just in Toronto [my home town] for my grandmothers funeral. Took this shot in an ally behind the house i was staying at [near Roxton and Collage]. Think it will make a good drawing. So it's probably next.

But i thought i'd also try to engage you all reading this. So, hey, what would you like to see me draw? Anything is cool to throw out there, let your imagination or desires rule. I could use the workout! You know, keep the brain on it's toes! :)

I'll pick the 3 or 4 most interesting to me and take a stab at them over the next month.

HIT ME!

cheers

The winged M1 helmet, from the cover.

I've inverted the hart in this version. It's right way up on the cover but I always wanted to do it this way as a personal comment on war. The ace of hearts upside down denotes location away from home in the fortune telling game, and I read it here as decent from action and taking arms. The helmet is worn by one of the clone angel/michels in the comic that brakes rank with the rest of the troops. A contentious decenter.

Re scanned it just for society 6, nice and big! Always wanted to blow this up big for myself, will get it on a canvas at some point.

A perfect day (For Sale)

This is a signature piece of mine.
