About this piece:
“She’s Your Mother Too” is a piece about how death eventually cradles us all in the end. She is the balancing force to creation—which is often personified as Mother Nature. I’ve tried to portray death here in a neutral light—a truer representation than those that portray it as an evil force. In reality death is a natural force that equally dictates everyone’s fixed destination.

Symbols in this piece include

The Moth,
    a universally accepted symbol of death, they are considered harbingers of death. There are live moths around Mother Death herself and there is a hand ornament serving as a crest at the top left corner of the arch which also holds a moth.

The Hour Glass,
     a symbol of time; Mother Death rests her foot on top of a gilded hour glass to symbolize that she not only permeates time, but is one of its absolute masters.
The Starry Sky, a symbol of the Universe, which is a never-ending force in and of itself; The expansive universe combined with time assert Mother Death is an eternal force (time and space together make eternity).

Keys Hanging By A Black Ribbon;
     the keys themselves symbolize power, while the ribbon symbolizing the casualness with which Mother Death holds them serves to demonstrate she is not worried of losing that power.

The Hand Holding A Golden Apple;
     this is a nod to the story of the first documentation of eminent death. Essentially the story of Genesis is how death began with the taking of the forbidden apple.
The Infant; a representation of humanity as it is at both the beginning and the end of life: helpless and mute to protest it’s new mother. We have no choice but to accept being held by the icy hands.

"Dead Leaves" sketch 4 x 6 inches

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_006/post_16/867775_1062197_l.jpg"/>Just a little something i've been thinking about making a lot lot bigger.

Just a little face experiment

<img src="http://a1.s6img.com/cdn/box_006/post_16/734025_7983012_l.jpg"/>trying to develop my "illustrative"style using calligraphic lines and color.
