The Antikythera mechanism, one more mystery of the ancient world, is an ancient mechanical calculator (also described as the first known mechanical computer) designed to calculate astronomical positions. It was recovered in 1900-01 from the Antikythera wreck, but its complexity and significance were not understood until decades later. It is now thought to have been built about 100-150 BC. This was some one-and-a-half thousand years before mechanisms of such complexity had been invented. Technological artifacts of similar complexity did not reappear until the 14th century, when mechanical astronomical clocks appeared in Europe.

The death ray or death beam was a theoretical particle beam or electromagnetic weapon of the 1920s through the 1930s that was claimed to have been invented independently by Nikola Tesla, Edwin R. Scott, Harry Grindell Matthews, and Graichen, as well as others. By 1957 the National Inventors Council was still issuing lists of needed military inventions that included a death ray. The concept was never put into action, but it fueled science fiction stories and led to the science fiction concept of the hand held ray gun used by fictional heroes such as Flash Gordon. Nikola Tesla claimed to have invented a death ray using what he termed "teleforce" in the 1930s and continued the claims up until his death. Tesla had 3 objectives for his tower: 1.Worldwide wireless communication. 2.Worldwide transmission of electricity. 3.A shield to protect the U.S. from foreign invasion. Tesla's wireless and communications system did not use Hertzian waves to broadcast but rather used the earth as a carrier for the electromagnetic and high frequency waves. Tesla was a man of peace and he envisioned using electricity as a shield to protect any nation from an invading force ...and thus end all wars... To accomplish this he designed a "peace ray" which the media quickly dubbed a "death ray".

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. At least two and up to five solar eclipses can occur each year on Earth, with between zero and two of them being total eclipses.

I found a template for this work in an interesting passage researching the Mathematical connections between Hesiod's "Theogony" and the I-Ching. This is really heavy stuff and i don't know too much about it, but it looks quite cool and has some great cosmic mystery in it. As far as I found out, it's a spherical structure constructed from the 64 hexagrams of the ancient I Ching, and as such, it represents the Chinese cosmology in the mythical past. The spherical arrangement clearly represents the unity and the completeness of the world. It's all about Yin and Yang.

Oh yeah, it's Planet X and it's 3,600 year orbit in our solar system. The interest in Planet-X was first triggered by the writings of Zecharia Sitchin, whose translations and interpretations of the oldest known civilization, the Sumerians, gave us a cosmology that included what he called "The Twelfth Planet." Sitchin's work with ancient texts, specifically the Enumma Elish, is brilliant. The cosmology includes an extra, as yet undiscovered planet, which is similar to the descriptions used by NASA and other researchers. This planet is in an eliptical orbit with a "year" equal to an amazing 3600 earth years. This long orbit is why the planet -- called Nibiru by the ancients -- has eluded observation with current telescopes and satellites. Embedded with the cosmology of the Sumerians is the description of an alien race of beings who came to our planet to mine precious minerals and who genetically altered our species. This latter bit of the tale in the Sumerian writing has caused the cosmology to be thrown out along with the aliens. But it does not negate the cosmology. The idea of a new planet being discovered in our Solar System is pretty exciting. Even more so because of the many theories about "Planet-x" or "Nibiru" being associated with space aliens and the doomsday prophecies of 2012. Scientists at places like NASA and famous observatories have deflected inquiries about the discovery for a few years now, mainly because they feared being associated with these "fringe" theories.

As theories go, the idea that the Earth is hollow does not garner a lot of respect. For most people, the hollow Earth is probably a close second to the "Earth is flat" theory on that big list of "crackpot" ideas. Nevertheless, as long as there have been people able to sit around a campfire, tales of a mysterious inner world have been part of mankind's heritage. Unlike the flat Earth, the hollow Earth has not disappeared into that great dustbin of quaint and old-fashioned myths of our ancestors. No longer does anyone have stories to tell of angels taking them up on-high to view the flat Earth, but even into this modern age of spaceflight and personal computers, there are still claims of personal encounters with the lands and people of the inner world. Part of the hollow Earth mystique is that many ancient civilizations have similar creation legends that involve mankind birthing from the subterranean realm. Some of these myths even seem to suggest that people first came to the surface world via a great opening located somewhere in the northern polar regions. My picture is made upon old illustrations in Marshall B. Gardner's book "A Journey to the Earth's Interior" from 1920. The letters at top and bottom of diagram indicate the various steps of an imaginary journey through the planet's interior. At the point marked "D" we catch our first glimpse of the corona of the central sun; at the point marked "E" we can see the central sun in its entirety.

These are the only five regular polyhedra, that is, the only five solids made from the same equilateral, equiangular polygons. They are geometrical forms which are said to act as a template from which all life springs. The aesthetic beauty and symmetry of the Platonic solids have made them a favorite subject of geometers for thousands of years. They are named after the ancient Greek philosopher Plato who theorized that the classical elements were constructed from the regular solids. To the Greeks, these solids symbolized fire, earth, air, spirit (or ether) and water. The Platonic solids are also called "cosmic figures" and are the basic modules for Sacred Geometry.

this art print shows the design of a wonderful crop circle, found 2008 in a barley field near Wroughton in Wiltshire (UK), which is a coded version of pi. The ratcheting archs starting at the center and proceeding outward express pi as increments of a circle divided into tenths, or 36 degrees. If you proceed outward from the center, the multiples of 1/10 of a rotation (including the small circle as a decimal) are 3.141592654...
