“The main ideological idea of the team is enabling the “I” in “WE”. It is the condition where members of the team co-operate and work together, constantly powered by the relationship between them and the interaction with the surrounding environment. The construction could be described as a space frame, a network formed by a cluster of drawers – nodes. As such, it bears an inclusive, personal or domestic nature, and an outer hub that acts as a barrier or a bridge. The project does not disclose an absolute truth. It is a constant discussion with itself and the whole. It is at the same time a machine – monsterand a living organism in development. In the receiving space, the viewer may select his own personal view of the work, opening and closing the drawers, thus interfering with the construction and constantly definingits final form. Serving as a Co – manufacturer of this fluid system, opening the drawer makes the viewer part of it’s content. As random artistic existences, “WE” becomes a dream, a dream in which we are it’s parts, positive and negative, familiar and unfamiliar. Elements of this “WE”: memory, weariness, travelling, uplift, in a place where everything is possible. In a wider context, however, it describes the passage of social and cultural forms from a steady state into a “fluid” one. The construction aims to manage and synthesize drawers by inviting them to interact with each other while establishing at the same time a standalone and integrated, yet polyphonic event. It conveys, thereby, a representational space of a social or cultural structure, which through new forms is able to establish a collective meaning within contemporary fluid social and cultural conditions.” Photo by George Kazazis. ARTIA GALLERY announces with joy its participation in Platform Project @ Art Athina 2013 in the context of “ART ATHINA” INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR 2013 that will take place on the Tae-Kwon-Do Olympic Complex, on the 16th-19th May 2013. As Artemis Potamianou (curator, artist, coordinator of the Platform Project @ Art Athina 2013) mentions “The objective of the project is to map artistic action as it is produced in the context of collective initiatives by artists who decide to join forces in seeking answers to artistic questions by creating the so-called platforms. The project will help promote the various artists’ groups, collectives, platforms, artist-run spaces and independent art spaces of a non-commercial (non-profit) orientation which operate in unconventional ways, in Greece as well as abroad, managing to establish unexpected debates on art. The artist-run platforms-group are given the opportunity to present an art project at a specific site—booth—and thus provide a picture of the independent art scene. Platform Project @ Art Athina will present 45 platforms – artists’ initiatives from 16 countries with more than 500 artists. The platforms come from: Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Switzerland, UK, Germany, Austria, Bosnia – Herzegovina, Sweden, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Finland, France, Russia, Serbia.” ARTIA GALLERY, will present the group project EMEIS33, a sculptural composition composed of works created by 33 renowned and emerging artists, sending the message of partnership and cooperation as a means to move forward from our harsh reality.
