We hiked all day out of Crested Butte. The season was early and the snow was still light but we found powder where we could and on the edge of the Anthracites we strapped in at 12,500ft. The sun was almost gone but we knew our decent would be quick and our trail out was straight forward and easy to find once we turned on our headlamps. From the car we could see the lake growing from out of the trees as we drove higher. The Crooked river streaming below us we found a trail leading from the top of the plateau down to the banks of the river.
