This is a very South African image ("ingozi" means "danger" in Xhosa and "pasop" is Afrikaans for "watch out"), but I'm interested to know what all you out there in internet-land think of it. My first submission for South-African-based t-shirt site Springleap. They're running themed competitions. This month it's an Alice in Wonderland theme.

Update: I won!!! Awesome and thanks if any of you voted!

I took old photographs from the Cape Town Archives, and brought in some mighty beasts. The mother city would totally be better if these guys were still roaming around the mountains.

These will soon be available as framed limited edition hand-tinted black and white prints. They will be printed at 6x8 inch photo size. It's gonna be awesome, so check back soon.

Illustrated type

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/46395_6407543_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>

GSDH print

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/46393_9820553_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>Big wall print made for the company where I work.

Why Pandas Are Black And White

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/46352_8361703_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>This is my submission for the Ami collective Bare exhibition. They created 100 of these guys and gave them to artists and designers to decorate. The exhibition will hopefully travel, before the Bares are auctioned off. All proceeds from the auction go to child welfare.

There’s some amazing work on display.

Why pandas are black and white
A Chinese legend

In the days before animals stopped talking to humans, pandas used to be entirely white. The pandas were friends with a young shepherd girl, who always brought her flock to graze near the bamboo forest. One day a huge leopard came out of the forest, and tried to eat one of the panda cubs. The girl stopped the leopard from eating the cub, but she was killed. The pandas came to the funeral, and to show mourning, they rubbed black ash on their arms to make a black band. As they cried, they rubbed their eyes and ears and hugged each other, spreading the ash. They still wear these markings today out of respect for the girl who died so that one of their kind could live.

Neptune's revenge

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/46348_8480818_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>

Call me Ishmael

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/44509_14866485_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>After the incident with the whale, he developed a taste for danger. It's an illustration based on a line from the song 'Messiah Ward' by Nick Cave. His lyrics have so much great imagery, I've been meaning to do something based on his songs for a while. Now I finally have. Hoping to modify this into a t-shirt print as well.

Check out the online version of the magazine. It's full of eye candy and informative words:

The bushmen had a belief that everything is alive, including the rain, which was brought by a strange creatures living in deep pools of water. In rain-making rituals these creatures would be hunted and captured in the spirit world, which the shamans would enter through trance.

Mr Cthulu

<img src="http://images.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_10/42080_11260823_p.jpg" width="200" height="150"/>An 80's skateboard-art tribute. Was thinking about an old skateboard passed on by my older brother (wish I still had it). Awesome yet offensive neon colours, fat black outlines and zombie skulls. Made this piece with this in mind.
